My sincere thanks to Sheriff Mawhorr and Prosecutor Brown for hosting law enforcement and advocacy training today in Decatur. Many small, rural agency members attended, as well as officers from the Department of Natural Resources to learn about best practices in responding to domestic violence. As summer approaches think of the incidents that our officers will respond to at campgrounds, lakes, and other recreational areas. “Home” can be defined differently by many and that is where domestic violence most often occurs.
